Stored City no. 1
Pintér Sonja Gallery
This work tries to explore how we transform and reconstruct the images of space in our mind, and how we select ones to retain while forgetting others. This process is represented in different ways: photos of buildings sentenced to demolition are shown on book-shaped pieces of wood in the first room; wooden books of the same size, but without fixed photos can be seen in the second. Here the buildings appear in projected images of a short film which registers the movements and sounds of the street at different times. In the first room there is a long shelf, and there are book-shaped elements covered with photos on the floor, so the visitor can arrange the ’remains of the street’ in various forms by changing the pieces on the shelf. In the other room the images change on the shelf due to the movement of the film projected on it.
